My Christmas Present to You

I sat down to write this post and realized it’s been a while… I aim to update this blog at least once a week, but lately it’s slipped to once a month. Not because I’m not busy behind the scenes but because there is little to share along those lines.

I’ve reduced my time on Twitter to a fraction of what it was before. You can find me on Mastodon now, a kinder, gentler place. Twitter is standing on the corner in Times Square, shouting with a megaphone to be heard over the traffic–and Mastodon is more like a friendly small town where you put up a discrete sign in your shop window. Passersby may stop to read it, or may not. Either way, it’s done with a smile and a wave. If you want to find me on Mastodon, I’m here.

I spend a LOT of time on TikTok now. Too much time, to be sure. Something about the site brings out the wild in me, and I’m having a lot of fun there. You can find me on my main account here, as well as on my back up account.

For a limited time, you can grab a copy of Ghost of a Chance (Redclaw Security Book 2), a steamy contemporary shifter story, for free across most platforms! Ghost of a Chance was a finalist in the 2019 Booksellers Best Awards.

Available on Amazon  Barnes and Noble  Apple  Kobo

And remember when I begged for votes for An Embarrassment of Itches (Ginny Reese Mysteries Book 1) to get to the next round of competition in the RONE Awards? Well, Itches was a runner up in the mystery category! Even more exciting, An Embarrassment of Itches won Best Cozy Mystery in the Best Indie Book Awards!

Did you know that An Embarrassment of Itches has been released in audiobook format? If you already have an e-copy, I believe you can add the audio for just a small fee. Watch this space because I’m going to be holding a contest to give away some free audiobook codes very soon!

I’m spending a quiet day today baking for our Christmas festivities tomorrow. Never in my entire life of living in the South have we experienced such cold temperatures. I woke this morning to -1 degree Fahrenheit and wind chills of -30 below. Definitely a day for being indoors! The tree is lit, we have the “fireplace” going on YouTube, and the kitchen is filled with the lovely scents of ginger, lemon, and cinnamon. We’ve been watching Christmas movies, too. I particularly enjoy the Princess Switch movies, as well as the classics, such as The Muppet Christmas Carol. A little Bing Crosby in the background for baking, and you have my idea of the perfect Christmas Eve.

Normally I do a Christmas gifts for writers post, as well as a holiday reads post, but somehow the season got away from me this year. Truthfully, the whole year got away from me. I’m behind on finishing the third book in the Ginny Reese Mysteries and I need to crack on with it. I hope to attend Malice Domestic April 28-30 2023 for the first time ever, and it would be lovely to have A Corpse in the Condo released by then.

Here’s hoping everyone is safe and warm, with the anticipation of spending a lovely holiday with those you love most doing what you enjoy most.

Love a Good Cozy Mystery? Check out these deals!

Do you like cozy mysteries? I know I do! There’s something so satisfying and calming about reading them. Yes, they are not without their suspense, but you’re pretty sure no one you like is going to get killed, and all the killing is usually discreetly offstage. The fun of reading them lies in the puzzle itself, and how our intrepid amateur sleuth is going to solve it. Extra points if there’s food, craft, or pets involved. Like a paranormal twist? Cozies have those too! Your fearless sleuth might also be a witch, or a fae, or a psychic.

I’ve joined with 26 other authors to offer a promotional deal for a limited time: all you have to do is sign up for the author’s newsletter to claim your particular prize! In my case, you get the first chapter of An Embarrassment of Itches–if you enjoy it, you can grab the whole book for just 99 cents! But this deal ends in 5 days, so grab your copy now!
