Remember when I posted a few weeks ago about A Nose for Death (Ginny Reese Mysteries Book 4) being shortlisted in the Mystery and Mayhem Awards? Well, in an different award contest, I just found out that this same book has won a Best Indie Book Award! You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out. I really had no expectations going into this contest–I enter these things mostly for exposure and to get my books seen by more people. So to actually win an award was completely unexpected!
Then this morning, I discovered Nose was a finalist in the 2025 Best Thrillers Book Awards! I have to tell you, when you struggling to believe in your work, it’s lovely to get this kind of outside validation.
How do you think I should celebrate?
CHow to celebrate? I think you more than deserve a day off. Cuddle with the pets, have a cuppa or two, and read a good book. Rest and recharge.
Hah. That’s pretty much how I spent this holiday weekend–that and paying bills, that is! Also, playing with the new puppy. 🙂
Just enjoy. From someone who is not in a good place, I say with love, don’t overthink it, just take it as well deserved and breathe. I have always liked your books and followed you and hope to see more from you so we exist. Also thank you for giving me some hope.
Aw, I’m sorry to hear you’re not in a good place. I get that, I really do. I’ve been struggling myself lately, and yet I keep telling myself the main reason I write is for other people who struggle, who need a few hours of escapism, who need to see the good guys win. I hope that both of us can continue to find hope in the little things around us.
I’m so excited for you. I suggest you celebrate with self-care, what ever your favorite decadent seeming thing might be, whether it is a spa day, your favorite dessert, or a day-pass at a hotel or resort to sit by the pool and read while be waited on. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy yourself.
Oooh, these are great suggestions! I’m definitely overdue for a little pampering–thank you!
