Funny story.
I received notification that Bishop Takes Knight, Redclaw Origins Book 1, was a finalist in the New England Reader’s Choice Awards for best Paranormal/SFF Romance. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was at the news, and how disappointed I was when COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the conference. Then came the glad news that the awards ceremony would be held on Facebook Friday April 3rd. Yay!
Because I’m working outside the home, I’m sequestering myself in a residence separate from the rest of my family. I had a crappy day at work on Friday, so to cheer myself up, I decided I’d get all glammed up as though I were attending the awards ceremony live. Yup. I came home, took a shower, pulled out the sparkly dress and cute high heels, put on makeup, jewelry, and perfume and sat down at the laptop to “attend” the awards.
Only the moderators were having trouble getting their recorded program to run, so I began taking selfies while waiting for the video to run. I felt bad for whomever was trying to get it up and running; you could hear the frustration in her muttered sighs! But after about a half hour, I noticed people congratulating each other online, and I realized there must have been an announcement elsewhere. Checking Twitter, I discovered that the winners HAD been announced in the various categories and to my utter surprise, Bishop Takes Knight WON! I’d thought getting dressed up was going to be the highlight of the evening, but instead, I gaped several times at this tweet before I took a screenshot of it.
The very next morning, I received an email from InD’Tale Magazine informing me that Bishop Takes Knight had been nominated for a RONE award! Hey, maybe I should glam up more often!
So to celebrate, you can grab a copy of not only Bishop Takes Knight but ALL my stories for 99 cents for a limited time! So be sure to check out Bishop Takes Knight and find out why readers describe it as “Peggy Carter meets Q in a world of shifters.”
